Yama Sushi is a hidden gem for fresh and quality sushi. Located in San Gabriel, this marketplace sells packaged sushi, sashimi, snacks, and many other things! For a quick meal, I got their poke bowl for only $12. They loaded my bowl with fish and toppings. They also have packaged maki, nigiris, chirashi bowls, and other combos for a fair price. You can also order sushi platters for parties. Such a great take out options if you're craving sushi.

[ Food ] They have a poke bowl now and it's so good, there's scallop, spicy tuna, and salmon. It's a little pricey for how much rice you get but everything is getting so expensive now. [ Service ] Customer service is still good, everyone's so nice. [ Parking ] I came in the afternoon on a weekday so it wasn't that bad.

Ordered: - Two chirashi bowls (4/5): loved the bits of tamago mixed with the rice. Squid, salmon, and the spicy scallops were standouts in this dish. It's a perfect grab and go item that's an entire meal in a bowl and can be easily eaten but probably not as easy if you're sharing between people. Not the best chirashi bowl we've had but for $21 and from a market, it's pretty solid. - Salmon avocado roll (4.5/5): love the creamy texture the avocado gives the rolls, love the size of the rolls, their salmon pieces are plump and taste good - Roll with salmon, yellowtail, tuna, tamago, and roe (2.5/5): It was our first time getting this and we don't remember exactly what it was called but we weren't huge fans of it. The roll sizes made it a bit awkward to eat and if you one bite the entire thing you really can't taste any of the individual components. We wouldn't get again because of this. Overall (4/5): A fantastic local spot to buy sushi to go. While the entrance is unassuming it's not uncommon to see the inside bustling with activity. The sushi is all fresh and does not disappoint, and there are plenty of other sides and snacks too!

I love this spot. Fresh quality sushi and much cheaper than going to a restaurant. It is a small space so it can feel crowded but it's worth it. I usually go to the fridge section and grab California rolls, nigiri, and seaweed salad. Each little box gives a pretty good amount for the price! Great value. In the back, they have an area where you can pick a piece of sashimi grade fish and get it cut. Just grab a number and wait to be called. The salmon is my favorite. So delicious and nicely packaged. They have their own private lot with plenty of spots.
